    Styled Shoot: Valentine Turned Goth

With lovers day right around the corner we knew we wanted to do something in the spirit of the holiday. If you know any of us at Renee’s, traditional is not what we do, so when we were thinking of the perfect collaboration, we knew it had to be “dark.” We imagined black candles, dark makeup, pops of deep red, all tied together by the simplicity of an elegant gown.

We quickly knew who to turn to for design and styling, Drunk on Decor. Lilli Hayner knew exactly what we were looking for and who better to capture our vision than the very own Jazmine Rubio. The rest just fell into place. Indulgence blessed us with the most beautiful (and absolutely delicious) masterpiece of a cake. Adriana, owner of Letters and Such ,provided her gorgeous calligraphy, and Desert Modern Florals worked their flower magic and put together the perfect bouquet!

For this shoot we styled Whitley in a simple, yet elegant gown. This Allure features a gorgeous, halter tie back, a crepe skirt and a attractive, extra low back. Whitley did her own makeup (stunning, I know). Ashley Apodaca handled her gorgeous, red mane.

Derek wore our Grey Portofino rental from Jim’s Formal Wear. We love the the contrasting black, satin lapels that give this tuxedo a super clean, tailored look.

Jazmine Rubio Photography always fabulous, always killing it!

The back on this dress is our favorite! We love the delicate straps and the super low back.

Desert Modern Florals had the perfect concept for this bouquet down to the black ribbon.

Her boots AND hair matching the bouquet was totally unplanned. We weren’t even planning on showing the shoes but as soon as she put them on, we knew they had to be a focus.

I wish you guys could see the “behind the scenes action” that went into lighting these candles in New Mexico wind. It took a village.

    Golden hour!

How CUTE is this clear sign? The concept, the quote, the color. All of it.

These hexagon, marble place cards. Not only are they super unique and modern but they also double up as coaster favors for guests! Also made by Letters and Such.

Letters and Such also does custom envelope calligraphy for invitations! This definitely adds personal, elegant touch.

This gorgeous invitation was made by our event planning sister company, Elegant Events.

Yes, this whole shoot took place at an abandoned gas station off the side of the highway.

    This setup was absolute perfection.

We wish everyone could taste this cake. This is definitely a chocolate lovers dream come true. The richness of the chocolate was paired perfectly with a raspberry filling. Meagan (co-owner of Indulgence) outdid herself!

This collaboration couldn’t have gone any better. As always, we are super thankful for all the vendors/models that participated. We absolutely love our vendor community in Las Cruces. We are all here to help each other succeed and it really shows when we can come together and make magic like this happen!

    Mystical Styled Shoot

Last month with partnered up with some of our favorite Las Cruces creatives to bring you this magical styled shoot. Bianca dn Anthony at Southwest Creative Co. did an amazing job capturing every detail. We envisioned a delicate vintage bride surrounded with greenery and lavender tones centered in the middle of a pecan tree farm. That is exactly what we got. Below you can find all the details on this wonderful collaboration.

This clear framed welcome sign was made by Letter and Such.

This beautiful Rebecca Ingram gown features an elbow length sleeve and bateau neckline. Around the waist is a bead and Swarovski belt that separates the lace bodice from the tulle skirt overlay, completing this vintage inspired gown.

We styled our groom in a navy blue pant from Jim’s Formal Wear (Michael Kors Ultra Slim Suit). We paired it with a classic white button up, suspenders, brown shoes, and a fun polkadot bow tie.

To top off his look, we added a perfectly, hand-crafted boutineer made by Calhoun Flower Farms.

Las Cruces is known for its endless acres of pecan farms. We had the pleasure to shoot on a locally owned pecan farm. Many thank yous to the Salopek family. The pecan trees provided a mystical look like no other.

We wanted to keep the decor super simple. Our goal was to add to the natural beauty surrounding us. We loved the combination of our clear orbs with the geometric shapes. The wooden arch was provided by our sister company Elegant Events and Invitations and it is available for rental.

We LOVE edible party favors. In fact, we encourage our brides to opt for them. We believe they are more cost efficient, they provide less waste, and I mean, who doesn’t love edible goodies? Check out these beautiful sugar cookies made by Cara at Cara’s Creations.

Can we talk about these perfectly packaged Cinnamon Praline Pecans? These cuties are brought to you by Legacy Pecans. If you want New Mexico true party favors, this is definitely the way to go. Make sure to check out their new location: 2355 Calle de Guadalupe on the Mesilla Plaza, right next to Double Eagle.

Pictures do not do this gorgeous bouquet justice. Hand-crafted and grown by the amazing ladies at Calhoun Flower Farm

You’re probably wondering what kind of florals and greens go in to making this flower magic. This one specifically contains the following: {Greens} Sage, salt cedar, pecan leaves, smoketree bush. {Floral} Artichoke and Kale (Yes, veggies can be beautiful too) dahlia, lisianthus, zinnia, and chocolate sunflowers. Thank you to the ladies at Calhoun Flower Farms for the flower knowledge.

Invitations were custom made by our sister company Elegant Events & Invitations. Every order is custom and made to our client’s liking.

Custom, handwritten calligraphy was done by Adriana at Letters and Such. This is a beautiful, personal touch on any invitation.

This shoot was so much fun to prepare for. It came together so effortlessly and we are fortunate enough to be surrounded by beautiful individuals that are not afraid to portray their talents in a collaborative matter. Thank you to everyone that contributed their time and efforts into bringing together this mystical shoot.

  • Vendor Spotlight

    Vendor Spotlight: Southwest Creative Co.

We are thrilled to share with you some of our favorite vendors composed of wedding photographers, venues, hair and makeup, videographers and many more!

This month we are featuring one of favorites in wedding photography: Southwest Creative Company. Bianca Padilla and Anthony Quiterio make up this perfect little duo behind the lense. They have been telling stories with their beautiful natural light photography {officially} for 2 years now, but have been capturing special moments for over 5 years. Sure, they are known for their lovely couple photography but their services go beyond that. Some of the other services they offer include: Photography, Videography, Graphic Design, Web Design & Social Media Management.

We decided to ask Bianca and Anthony a few questions to get a deeper insight on how these adventurous storytellers have become successful in doing what they love and having others love what they do.

    • What got you started in the industry?  Our love for capturing love! We love shooting family sessions and commercial work but there is something super special about photographing love.
    • What do you guys do on your free time when you are not working on your business? Traveling is our biggest hobby! Whenever we have a free weekend we rarely stay in town.
    • What is the most rewarding part of what you do? Being able to supply our couples with memories them & their family will have forever!
    • Can you recall a time when you had a chaotic event? If so, how did you get through it? Most wedding days are sprinkled with chaos, but for us we just try to concentrate on what needs to be done and work though it instead of getting caught up in the stress of the moment.
    • To what do you attribute your success? A positive mindset and surrounding yourself with people who support you & your business!
    • What sets you apart from others in your area of business? We are HUGE on candid and do very little posing with our couples. Most of our couples aren’t models and we don’t want you to pretend to be. We want your reactions, laughs and smiles all to be real and genuine. We want the, to be authentic to who you are and your love together. We love having fun with our couples and “games” we play during our sessions to take your mind off getting your photo taken and make you laugh and smile without feeling awkward or like you’re trying to model for us.
    • If someone were wanting to book your business for their special day, how far in advance would they have to do it? We recommend booking us at least a year in advance.
    • Are you flexible with traveling for a wedding? We LOVE traveling for weddings! We will go anywhere & everywhere with our clients. The more adventurous the better!
    • What trends have you seen in weddings lately? Lately we’ve been seeing lots of geometric shapes, cute little plants given away as guest favors, and custom wedding hashtags!
    • Any tips or advice you would give to a bride and groom when in search of a photographer/videographer? Be sure to ask the right questions. Make sure you know how many hours they will be there, how many images to expect, when you’ll receive them, if they include prints, or how long the video will be. Also be sure you dig their style! Every photographer & videographer has their own way of capturing & coloring your day. Be sure your style syncs with theirs!

Below are a few of their favorite shots

Their work is unlike anything else! Therefore, it is easy to spot a SWCC photo. From their lighting to their overall technique, Southwest Creative Co. creates remarkable pictures that will live with friends and families forever.

If you haven’t yet, make sure to follow them on Instagram, Facebook, and give their site a visit!

    Jackie + Derrick – October 15th, 2016

With special events occurring almost every weekend of the year here at Renee’s, sometimes we like to look back on past weddings we’ve done. Jackie and Derrick tied the knot almost two years ago, but their style was timeless. As you will be able to see through these stunning photos, their decor and color palette are still trending today. Dive into these shots to get some October wedding inspiration.

Custom invitations were made by our sister company, Elegant Events & Invitations.

A cognac colored shoe pairs nicely with a variety of tones. We love the navy and blush palette this couple went with as it combined a traditional look with a more modern style.

The ceremony featured a gorgeous view of the Organ Mountains at Red Hawk Golf Club.

    How charming is that silverware?!

Look at this scenery! We may be bias, but New Mexico has some of the best sunsets around! It could not create a more romantic setting for outdoor weddings. The lovely hanging market lights are a trendy way to light up your dance floor.

Jackie & Derrick incorporated special family photos for their guests to view.
